about

Patrick Eugene Gabbert wrote the first verses, and Donnie wrote the last verse after Patrick passed away. It
seems to embody the ties that mountain folk feel for their home.

lyrics

Homecoming. Homecoming.
It doesn't matter where you've been.
Embrace your neighbor. Shake the hand of your friend.
And we'll sing our songs together once again.
There's a little church in the woodland
It's congregation numbers forty one.
In the back before the mountains
The resting place of dear ones gone
On a summers day we come together
And remember the times that went before
We have come here through the seasons
To see that mountain view once more
(chorus)
Those who are passed are not forgotten
They bind us together where they lay.
A walk among the stones can remind us
How close we still all are today.
Homecoming. Homecoming.
It doesn't matter where you've been.
Embrace your neighbor. Shake the hand of your friend.
And we'll sing our songs together once again.
